About Us

We were one of the very first companies to help laundries recycle their process water, back in the 1990s. What makes us tick? What are we like?
Here is our story…

Our Why, How and What

We are a team of practical people with innovative ideas. Our quest is to use our long experience in the field of textile cleaning to connect technologies in exciting ways to give you savings and sustainability in your business. You could call it green tech…

Why?

We love to imagine and create clever ways to recycle water and energy in textile care. It might be a Dutch thing, our fascination with water…

What?

We make high quality products that are the heart of our circular solutions for water and energy savings for laundries. However, choosing to recycle water and energy is just the start of an exciting journey for laundries. We support with all kinds of further services to make the journey smooth.

Service Led

Solving problems is something we enjoy doing, that always makes our customers happy.

Founded

We were a garage start-up around 1960, long before a fledgling company was called a ‘startup’! Our startup expertise was in dry cleaning machines for the textile care market.

Next step

Before long, the late Theo Wientjens took the plunge and invested in building a production facility in Milsbeek, The Netherlands, where we are still based today. Our renowned dry cleaning machines found their way to customers all over the world, and Wientjens know-how in making high quality products grew.

Growing

In the early 1990s, the current director, Gerry Wientjens, saw the possibilities in water recycling for the textile care market and so the company made what is now called a ‘transition’. We developed a reverse osmosis unit which could recycle washing process water to produce filtrate of drinking water quality. We won all sorts of innovation prizes for our concept, from Germany to Japan.

Our learning curve continued and we realised that in fact we could be much cleverer about process water recycling – the filtrate quality is right if it is suitable for the reuse function the customer has in mind. This insight has been an important basis of success for our products, which proudly bear our name, Wientjens The Dutch Water Company.

Today, we’re still recognisable as the grown up child of that 1960 start-up, working as a dedicated team for our customers all over the world. Transitions continue as we embrace the challenges and excitement of digitalisation and automation, and as we continue to hone our customer support skills.

We hope to never stop learning.
